Leslie Milton Smith, Jr., age 90, of Rogers, formerly of Brooklyn Center, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024.

He met the love of his life, Gloria Amundson, when they were 13 years old and they were married at age 19. They celebrated 70 years of marriage on June 6, 2023.

He joined the Army and proudly served from 1954 to 1956. Upon his return to Minneapolis from New Jersey, he worked at and eventually owned Orville’s Auto Glass in Minneapolis with his brother-in-law Bob Amundson. They sold the business and Les joined Harmon Glass. He managed the downtown location until his retirement in 1998.

He worked part-time at Veit & Company in Rogers as a bid runner for several years after his retirement. He and Gloria spent summers at the family cabin and 13 winters in Alamo, Texas with his sister and brother-in-law, Ron and Delores Martin.

They moved in 1998 from their home in Brooklyn Center where they raised their family to Rogers.

They were charter and active members of Lutheran Church of the Master in Brooklyn Center for 40 years before joining Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers.

Les was an active member of the Rogers Seniors for many years and served on his townhouse association board in several capacities ultimately serving as President. He will be missed in the Rogers community especially at Bingo where he called for years.

Les was most proud of his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Always a close-knit family, his loss will be felt forever and our hearts are broken.
