Marilyn Janice Nelson

Passed peacefully at Suncrest Assisted Living, Cloquet, MN, on February 24, 2024. Marilyn was born on October 14, 1929, in Duluth to Franklin and Mildred Sundeen.

Following business school, Marilyn’s career included legal secretary for Douglas County; secretary at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Superior; and more recently on staff at the Historic Scott House in Carlton.

In August of 1955, Marilyn married Norman Nelson and they resided in Superior, WI and raised two children, Mark and Gail.

Marilyn was a born patriot, served as a proud volunteer for the GOP and was a tireless advocate for the unborn with the Superior Life Care Center. Her faith and love for Israel led her to membership at Beth Yeshua Twin Ports Messianic Congregation in Superior, WI.

Preceded in death by her husband Norman in 2016. Survivors include her son Mark and daughter Gail (Kevin) Hamre.

Arrangements are made by Cremation Society of MN. A private gathering at a later date is pending. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Suncrest and Gentiva Hospice for their friendship and compassionate care.+
