Obituary of Carmella Mary Notz

Carmella “Carm” Mary Notz

June 26, 1928 – February 6, 2024

With family by her side, Carmella Mary (née Crisci) Notz passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024 in Mound, MN. She was born in Savanna, IL on June 26, 1928 to Charles and Caroline Crisci. In Savanna, she met Harry “Bill” Notz who became her husband on May 7, 1948. They moved to Clinton, IA where they raised their 3 children.

Carm loved to cook and bake. Her Italian food, cinnamon rolls, and Christmas cookies were her specialties. She also loved to travel. She and Bill would pack their car and take off around the country, even spending a couple of summers working at national parks out West. As avid Iowa Hawkeye fans, they would travel the country to watch men’s basketball games and tournaments. In her later years, Carm remained a Hawkeye fan, enjoying men’s football and women’s basketball.

Carm was proceeded in death by her husband Bill, her grandson Billy, her parents, and her siblings. She is survived by her daughters Carol d’Alise and Maureen (Art) Petrauskis, her son Bill (Hope) Notz, and her grandson Tony Seemann. She also had a spectacular relationship with her grand-dog, Gia, a trained therapy pup who remained at her side as she passed.

On March 18th, a memorial luncheon for Carm will be held starting at 12p at her home, Harrison Bay Senior Living in Mound, MN, where family, staff, and fellow residents will celebrate her life. Carm will also be honored during the quarterly resident memorial at 3p. Given their love of travel, Carm’s ashes will be joined with Bill’s at a later date and spread at the North Shore, starting their final journey at one of their favorite areas in northern MN along the Canadian border and Lake Superior.
