Obituary of Marilyn Miller-Otto

Marilyn L. Miller-Otto, age 85, of St. Paul, died Feb. 6, 2024 at Lyngblomsten Care Center, St Paul, MN. Husband, Andrew and her sister Joyce were at her bedside. Born in Cannon Falls, MN to Rose and George Wilson. Survived by, sisters Joyce, Gay, and brother, Jim, nephews, Barry (Candace) Hart, their children, Lilly and Charlie; Mark (Jeanie) Hart, their sons, Sam and Noah; Niece, Michelle (Bill) Farber, and her daughter, Rachel. Marilyn's main career was as a Spanish teacher at Moundsview High School and South High School. She loved teaching and developed programs for foreign language classes in the state. She also escorted students to Spain and Mexico in the summers. Something she thoroughly enjoyed. When she left teaching, she worked for her sister Joyce at her Albuquerque Employee Assistance. She did a lot of work in Spanish since many workers didn't know English. The two sisters worked well together and it resulted in a closer personal bond. Her first marriage was to Robert Miller. In 1991 she married Andrew Otto. He says we worked hard and we made the marriage work. We had many great years. Marilyn was loved by Andy's children, Kathy and Barb. She was quickly accepted as a grandma by Christine and Andrew and the great-grandkids. The most difficult period in their marriage happened when Marilyn developed Lewy Body Dementia, a very cruel disease. A delusional condition that slowly took over Marilyn's personhood. She spent the last month of her life at Lyngblomsten Care Center where she received excellent care from very special people. Memorial on Saturday, April 27, at 10:00AM at Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 Hamline Ave S, Roseville MN, 55108.
