Obituary of Opal Elaine Collins

Opal Elaine Collins

Passed away from living a long wonderful life of 89 years.

Preceded in Death by her parents Art and Hanna, and her stepmom Edina, sister Betty, her two sons Timothy and Michael, and her best friend and faithful husband of 63 years Jack. Survived by her children John and his wife Sharon, Nancy, and Theresa and her husband Bob; grandchildren Anna, Frank, Rachel, John, Jack, Mikey, Abbey, and Max; great grandkids John, Christian, Benjamin, Luca, Elena, Leo and Charlotte; many other relatives and friends.

Opal was loved by all who met her. She had a special something that made you feel appreciated, accepted, respected and loved. She was a true servant in life -she served God, her family, and her community through her years working as a pediatric nurse. Her dad said it best “if you can’t get along with Opal, you won’t be able to get along with anybody”.

She loved life, despite the hardships that come along with it. She took adversity on with a “so be it” attitude. We all know we should live one day at a time, but Opal did just that. On any give day she would answer the phone with a hardy “helloooo” and when asked how she was doing she would always say “Fine and dandy.”

To know Opal was to know her passion for all things sports. She didn’t miss a game… ever… if she could help it. If you looked closely, you might see an earbud in her ear because she was listening to it.

Her laugh was as big as her heart. Unique to her and recognized by all who loved her.

Mom, we miss you, as daddy said, “God didn’t make enough words to tell you how much you we love you” or how much you will be missed.

Funeral service will be held at St Francis Xavier Church in Buffalo, Mn. Friday February 23rd, at 11am. (763) 684-0075. Luncheon to follow at the church.
