Obituary of Louise Hancock

Louise Hancock, 97, of Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

Louise M Branscome, the daghter of Cullen and Ida Branscome, was born January 1, 1927, in Evanston, IL. She grew up in Illinois, except for a three-year period during the Great Depression where she lived in Virginia on her grandparents’ farm. She attended the Art Institute of Chicago and earned a Backelor of Arts degree. She taught high school art in Chicago and became a social worker upon moving to Minnesota in 1970. After retirement, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling (worldwide) with her friends, attending the opera, spending time at the Lutsen cabin, and tending to her gardens.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children Adam (Tammy) Skinner, Luke (Diane) Skinner, Thaddeus Skinner, and Maria Spellman; 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Valarie, Benjamin, Zachary, Annelise, Briana, Kiara, Jenna Mae, and David James; and three great-grandchildren, Owen, Levi, and Navy; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by Richard Jensen (first husband), Joseph Skinner (son), and Lee Branscome (brother).

A celebration of life will be held for Louise on Saturday, March 2nd with visitation from 2-3:30 pm and a sharing of memories from 3:30-4pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota & Bell Brothers Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth, MN 55807.
