Obituary of Sandra Kathryn Nattrass Hinrichs

Sandra Kathryn Nattrass Hinrichs, age 89, died May 5, 2023, in her sleep after a short time in hospice care.

Sandy loved people, dancing, eating good food (especially sweets), playing Bridge, Rummy 500 and Rummikub, reading mysteries and science fiction, singing, playing the electric organ, and painting color-splashed landscapes.

But mostly she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of almost 27 years, Keith (Bud) Hinrichs. She is survived by her three daughters, Virginia, Susan, and Lisa Robinson; by her three stepchildren, Sharon O'Brien, Tom Hinrichs (Lynn), and Kirk Hinrichs (Andrea); and by her 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Born and raised in New Jersey, she moved to Minneapolis with her parents in the late 1950s to continue working at Prudential Life Insurance Company (the Pru). She quit to become a stay-at-home mother but went back to the Pru after her children were older, and through her Pru connections, she met Bud.

Sandy and Bud moved to the Phoenix, Arizona area before retirement age, landed new jobs, and bought a home with a pool – a guaranteed way to have your Minnesota family visit you each winter. Eight years after Bud’s death Sandy relocated back to Minnesota to be closer to her family.

Sandy is interred with Bud at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
