Obituary of Beverly Ann Griggs

Beverly Ann Griggs was born on March 19, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN and passed on January 30, 2024 at the age of 76.

Bev graduated from St. Mary’s nursing program in 1970 and started her career as a registered nurse at Mount Sinai hospital in Minneapolis. In 1973, she moved to Cannon Falls and began her 30 year career at the local community hospital. She made many lifelong friends here.

Bev had a passion for learning and was an avid reader. She pursued a Bachelor’s degree in History at the University of Minnesota graduating summa cum laude in 1998. This spurred her interest in France and World War I.

She had a diverse set of interests, including gardening, golfing and bobber fishing. She was a loyal Minnesota sports fan, cheering for the Gophers and the Vikings. And Bev was always up for a political debate and had a personal commitment to social justice.

Bev’s real love was for her grandchildren. She cherished having cousin sleepovers at Grandma’s house. She was always there for them, at their school events and sports games. Her favorite thing was her family and getting the chance to spend time with everyone all together.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years David (Mike) Griggs of Apple Valley, her three children Jason Griggs (Melissa Griggs) of Oronoco, Chelsey Griggs (Shon Hartman) of Mendota Heights, Colby Griggs (Rachael Griggs) of Minnetonka, her sister Roxanne Rassmussen (Rick Rassmussen) of Eden Prairie and her grandchildren, Kieran White, Calli Griggs, Nick Hartman, Vivian White, Fischer Griggs, Cecelia Griggs and Isla Griggs.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Hannah Griggs, parents Arlyne and Harold Nelson of Bloomington,MN and her birth father Eugene Erickson of Lewiston, MN.
