In Loving Memory of Marlys May Verch (Gilster)

Marlys May Verch (Gilster) was born on November 24, 1937, in Young America, Minnesota, to the loving embrace of her recently widowed mother Esther and late father Carl Gilster. She gracefully departed this world on January 20, 2024, in Edina, MN, at the age of 86.

Marlys epitomized boundless love and care for others throughout her life's journey. A devoted caretaker, she tended to the needs of her loved ones with unwavering dedication. Her son Terry, daughter Tami, and cherished grandchildren were the center of her universe. Affectionately known as Granny, she effortlessly donned the title of the coolest grandma, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Marlys found solace and joy in her happy place, the cabin, where she generously welcomed others to bask in the tranquility of lake life. Whether she was casting a line, scouring garage sales for treasures, or engaging in spirited games of dice and cards, Marlys infused every moment with laughter and warmth. Her vibrant spirit and infectious smile were constants, bringing joy to those around her.

She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and moments shared with family and friends. We invite you to join us in celebrating Marlys's life on February 9th, 2024, at the Fred Babcock VFW Post 5555, located at 6715 Lake Shore Drive in Richfield, MN, from 4pm to 8pm in the back room.

Marlys is survived by her loving children Terry (Dawn) and Tami (Kevin), her adored grandchildren Andrew, Anthony (Cassie), Adam, Amanda (Josh), Bentley, and Chase, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren Torrence, Major, Vienna, Brody, Evelyn, Wilson, Warner, and Witten.

She is preceded in death by her parents Esther and Carl, her beloved husband Virgil and her brothers Victor and Carl.
