Obituary of Robert Eugene Hakala

With his family by his side, Robert E. Hakala, age 75, took his last breath Sunday, January 28, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital from natural causes. 

Bob was born in Hurley, WI to Eino and Ann Hakala.   He graduated from Denfeld High School.  He was employed by several companies including US Steel, Zalk Joseph, Superior Lidgerwood Mundy Corp, and Johnson’s Appliance.  He enjoyed antique automobiles and once owned a 1925 Model T Doctor’s Coupe and    a ‘39 Plymouth.  He was very involved in AA for many years. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Edith Hakala; parents-in-law Wilbur and Audrey Wright; brother and sister-in-law Pete and Wendy Reilly; brothers-in-law Thomas and Dennis Wright.  

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vicki Hakala, daughter Rhonda (Rob) Anderson, sons Wayne Hakala and Jesse Hakala, granddaughters, Mia Hakala and Arie Hakala.  He is also survived by sister, Pat (Ron) Foeltz and brother, Jim Hakala and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, February 4, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Proctor Moose Lodge.
