Obituary of Norman “Norm” Earl Erickson

Norman “Norm” Earl Erickson, aka “papa” 85, died Sunday, December 31, at his Edina home with family by his side. The four winds blew him safely home as Sara and Zoe performed reiki, massage and gave back scratches as he traveled to his final resting place.

Norm was born August 31, 1938, in Amery Wisconsin, to Emerald and Dora Erickson. He was preceded in death by his 12 siblings.

In 1969, he married Lorna “Lorie” Ekgren who he loved and wholeheartedly served for the past several years until his end. Every day was spent making her happy. He took Lorie on long car rides and indulged her in all her favorite people, places and foods until his legs no longer carried him.

Norm was blessed with and survived by several children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tab Erickson (Kay, Tom (Katie) and Tim), Valley Jo Shannor (Adam Shannor (Allie)), Kevin Erickson (Randyy (Jolene)), Robin Erickson. Stepchildren Lisa Hayes (Robert, David (Alyssa, Joey, Jedd and Jak)), Peter Landis. Child with Lorie, Sara Erickson-Nelson (Eric Nelson, Zoe Who Erickson, Lila Bel Nelson and Axl Law Nelson).

Norm had countless friends young and old. He was known by many for “liar’s poker” conquests and gambling in life and love. There wasn’t a bar-room game he didn’t love.  Norm was a people person. He helped everyone he could and touched many with unexpected gifts. He will be forever loved and missed.
