Obituary of Irene Elizabeth Lampi

Irene Elizabeth Lampi, 92 of Hermantown, MN, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Edgewood Assisted Living. Irene was born on January 24, 1931, in Lakeview Township, MN, graduated from Superior Central and worked as an auditor and supervisor at Essentia Health (St. Mary’s Hospital) for 29 years.

Irene loved gardening, knitting, playing computer games, reading mystery and true crime novels, and attending car shows. She was very proud of the accomplishments and success of her family.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin of 61 years, and her daughter, Lori.

Irene is survived by her son, Barry (Janet) Lampi; her daughter, Dawn (Scott) Greenwald; her grandsons, Kevin Lampi, Zach (Mary) Calles, Dan Greenwald, and Brad (Lindsey) Greenwald; granddaughters, Christine Bolan, and Amanda Lasseter and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15, 2023, at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Avenue at 12:30 pm, with Memorial Service at 1:30 pm.

The family would like to thank Duluth Family Medicine, Essentia, Benedictine and Edgewood staff for all the care they gave Irene.
