Obituary of Cynthia Margaret Skrzynecki
Cynthia passed away peacefully September 28, 2023, at home with her family by her side. She was 68 years old.
She is now in the presence of her Heavenly Father, dancing on streets of gold with the one who loves her best.
Cynthia was born September 16, 1955, in Chicago IL to Frank Skrzynecki and Dottie Sutton. She graduated from Antioch Community High School in 1973. At the age of 20 she moved to Minneapolis as a young adult, attending St. Cloud State University. She earned her degree in Journalism, Summa cum laude.
At Saint Cloud Cindy’s professor recommended her for the Minnesota Press Club’s Journalism scholarship. Her professors’ recommendation reads:
“Cindy is truly an outstanding woman. She is a brilliant scholar and has earned the deep esteem of the mass communications faculty and student body. Her command of Journalistic skills is matched only by her strong leadership capabilities. She is quick to volunteer for the most demanding of jobs, which she always completes to perfection. She has had total of editing responsibility for two SCSU publications during the 1979-80 academic year: The Newsperson’s Guide to St. Cloud and CLASS, the SCSU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences news feature publication. She has also created and edited various other publications for SCSU administrative units.
Cynthia Skrzynecki is a journalism instructor’s dream: a student who quickly assimilates course material and superbly applies her learned knowledge to important, meaningful projects. She is of impeccable character and is a great credit to this department, SCSU, and her chosen profession. She is totally dedicated to a life’s career in journalism, which may explain the enthusiasm, industry, and perfection with which she completes tasks. I would be unforgivably remiss as her adviser were I not to urge that she be awarded a Minnesota Press Club journalism scholarship.”
Cindy was a cat lover and was a host family for cherished pets for over 20 years. Cindy lovingly provided a home-away-from-home for cats that she came to know and love. She was known to write journal entries for cat parents, share photos, and have repeat visits from some of her favorite cats.
Those who knew Cindy best would describe her as diligent in studying and weighing her options. While she may not have had children of her own, she was able to build a community of support through roommates and animal lovers and nutrition advocates and neighbors and with others who mutually shared her recent health struggles. We continue to see places of her community and connections she had built in her life here in Minneapolis. Cindy was raised from beginning to end to be a conscientious and curious daughter, sister, and friend.
In these last weeks friends of her family sent her letters about Heaven. One of them reads: Heaven is the restoration of all things. It is a place where I will be able to love, honor, and serve the people around me without being weighed down by my own mind, fears, and issues. I will be able to see God for who He is. I will be able to receive His love without filtering because I may not feel worthy.
Cindy, be fully who God made you to be. Rest in peaceful paradise.
At her request no services will be held.
