Obituary of Karen Finn

Karen Finn of Saginaw passed away on December 17, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. Karen was born February 22, 1943, in Cass Lake, MN to Robert and Laverne Wake.

She grew up in Federal Dam, MN, attending Boy River High School where she was a cheerleader and graduating in 1961. She married Jerry Finn in 1963 and lived in Federal Dam until they found their forever home in Saginaw, living there for 51 years. Karen loved hunting and fishing, and especially loved it when she caught bigger fish than Jerry. They did a lot of Lake Superior fishing in a 14-foot Lund boat. And when deer season came around, she wanted to hear all about the hunt. She was homemaker until 1985 when she landed a job at Target. She wanted extra money for Christmas that year and ended up retiring from Target about 28 years later. Karen was part of the Red Hats for many years and her favorite pastime in her later years was bingo. She loved seeing people, talking, and having a great time.

Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Rebecca; son-in-law Dale; and father and mother, Robert (Pop) and Laverne (Nan) Wake.

Karen is survived by her brother, Alan (Susan) Wake from Federal Dam; son, Thomas (Kristie) Finn from Brookston; daughter, Jessie (Darren) Anich of Cloquet. Grandchildren Kyle (Christina) Hanson of Saginaw; and Harley and Liberty Anich of Cloquet, and many extended family and friends.

A special thank you to St. Luke’s Hospital for all their amazing care, and to the Bingo Girls at Black Bear Casino.
