Obituary of Jean Vavrin
Jean Vavrin (AKA Nevada Jean Neal) was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 22, 1926 to Hulda and Harry Neal. Jean passed on November 29, 2023 at Martin Luther Manor, Bloomington. Jean was a radio personality in the American Forces Network Europe: Berlin, Germany (1960 – 1962), Orleans, France (1962 – 1965), Frankfurt, Germany (1966– 1970), hosting “What’s Cooking?” and “Coffee with Jean” as well as other activities at the time the Berlin Wall was being constructed. Jean was also a speaker, hospital volunteer, and entertainer both as a Grey Lady in North Carolina, also Frankfurt and Munich Germany.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Oscar; her son, Frank Neal; and her daughter, Kristine Elizabeth. She is survived by her son, Paul Luther and his wife Anne. Also her Granddaughter, Katharine, and her husband Paul Young and granddaughter Abigail. Also, she is survived by Jean’s half-sister Sharon Neal and heart friend, Linda Engberg. Also, she is survived by grandson John Paul Vavrin, his wife Victoria and great grandchildren Gwendolyn, Geneviève, and Penelope; also, Jean is survived by Great Granddaughter Mary Beth Kraabel and her husband Brent.
We will always hold Jean in our hearts as a rare, warm, and authentic human being. We love her and we commend her to God.
