Obituary of Arlene Joy Tapper

 

Arlene Joy Tapper, 73, passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2023, with her family by her side.

Arlene was born October 29, 1950 in Superior, WI to Arthur and Elsie Mattila.  She graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1968.  She attended Wisconsin State University.  She later settled in South Minneapolis, in a home that she lovingly restored and often redecorated.                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

On July 12, 1983 she married the love of her life, Ken Tapper, blending two families into one.  She worked as a housekeeper for several seniors that came to regard her as a member of their families.  She started her own business, Tap’s Treasures Country Crafts, highlighting her talent for painting and her creativity.  She enjoyed participating in the many craft shows and boutiques.  In 2004 she retired, allowing her time to spend time with her most beloved “Swa”, her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by husband Ken, and their children: Kari Yarke, Casey (Jeff) Chamberlain, Todd Tapper, Dee (Robert) Hospodarsky, Kelly Tapper, and Chris (Janalyn Schreiber) Tapper.  She also left behind 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and her brother Marv (Linda) Rosseau.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and her brother Artie Mattila.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, December 21st at 1 PM, and reception to follow at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55423.
