Obituary of Roger Trevine Waller

I am heartbroken to announce the death of my husband, Roger Trevine Waller.  He was born in Prestonsburg Kentucky on December 5, 1968.

He passed away on November 29, 2023, after contracting pneumonia and sepsis. Roger had a very long, painful battle of Stage 4 Terminal Colon Cancer.  He fought with bravery and courage through all the treatments, but his body was tired, and he just was unable to fight anymore.

Up until the end he was making us laugh and being sure to let everyone know how upset he was that he couldn’t have a cigarette.  But he also had a love for food and when I was able to sneak him a piece of a mandarin orange, but told him he couldn’t swallow it, he gnawed on it until the nurse literally pulled it from his mouth.  When I tried, he tried to bite my fingers!  When it got closer to his time to be with the lord he was surrounded by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Lauri Waller, his father Ronald Osborn {wife Margaret), Brother David Osborn, Daughters Brittany and Maya, Stepdaughters Jami Jones (husband Josh), Kitara Curran, and grandchildren Justice, Jayce, Jamison and Jovi.  As well as extended family and many close friends.

Roger was in the AirForce as Senior Airman from 1987-1990.  Following his time in the military he attended college and he graduated from The University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1997.

Roger will always be remembered as a true metal head!  He knew every band, every song and he loved to teach everyone about the history of music.  Some may be surprised to know of his love of classical music, old time blues musicians, and even a little Air Supply.

Roger also had a love of Egypt, and he spent many years reading about the history of the pyramids and the people.  He was a wealth of knowledge regarding the topic and loved it …. Almost as much as the music, and the history of that.

Roger was an intelligent, funny, loving, strong, and brave man.   He loved his wife, his children, his friends and his grandchildren.  Being a “grandpa” was one of his biggest joys.  He enjoyed life to the fullest!  He made sure to take the time and enjoy the little things, and he would want us to do the same.  It’s hard to imagine life without his big smile and hearty laugh.  And though we may be hurting here, I know for the first time in many years he is pain free!  He is at peace knowing in his heart the love we feel for him, and I also know if he was here now, he would tell us not to mourn him but to celebrate him.  Is a matter of fact he would tell us to… Rock On!

In lieu of flowers, donations directly to the family of Roger are preferred.
