Obituary of Eleanor Joan Kirkwold

Kirkwold, Eleanor Joan 83, Starbuck, MN (Also Mesa, AZ) was born on April 3, 1933 to Carl and Ellen (Noreen) Nygren in rural Staples, MN. In 1936 the family moved to Compton Township, Wadena MN. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed at Compton Covenant Church. She attended Dist. 94, Ottertail Co. for eight grades and graduated from Wadena High School in 1951. She graduated from The Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. She started working at the Minnewaska Hospital, Starbuck MN, where she met Robert Kirkwold. They were married in 1957. They had two children, Mark Allen and Beth Ann, and one foster daughter, Carol Faucher. She was active in church; playing organ and piano and singing in the choir. She liked to read, travel, ride motorcycle with Bob, and entertain family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Mark and niece Debra Bernstrom. She is survived by husband Robert, daughters Beth (Scott) Mathies and Carol Faucher, sisters, Ardis Schimpp and Ina Mae (James) Smith. She is also survived by many in-Laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials preferred to Minnewaska Lutheran Cemetery or Minnewaska Lutheran Church.
