Obituary of Wendell Dayton Brosdahl

Wendell Brosdahl of Annandale, MN passed away peacefully on November 16 at the age of 95. Born in Warren, MN to Halvor (HK) Brosdahl and Matilda “Thea” Heier, he was one of 16 children. As a boy, he worked with his father and brothers on their farm, and then as a young man, for a nearby potato farmer before receiving his draft notice. Wendell served in the army as a maintenance mechanic during the Korean War. He took immense pride in being a veteran.

Wendell married Lois Backlund in 1953. They were married for 67 years and had 3 children: Kathy (Wendell) Pass, Curtis (Kimetha) Brosdahl, and David Brosdahl. As a couple they enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, square dancing, and card club, spending their retired years at the “Lake Place”. They loved time with family. During the summer, Wendell liked boating and fishing and often had a baseball game on the radio. Winters, he enjoyed watching sports on TV with a crackling fire in the fireplace. He often had a joke to tell, just to put a smile on someone’s face. Wendell worked for many years for Minnesota Rubber Company and retired in 1983. He enjoyed music and played the accordion. In his later years, he had fun trying to play the harmonica and loved singing with gusto, often out of tune.

He was predeceased by his wife, both parents, and all 15 of his siblings. He is survived by his children, grandchildren: Alida (Brosdahl) Titchenal, Andrew Pass, Sarah Pass, and great-granddaughter, Anna Titchenal.
