Orlyn Duane Joyner

Joyner, Lyn, age 95, of Golden Valley, MN, formerly of Champlin, MN, passed away surrounded by love on 18 November 2023.

Preceded in death by wives Bonnie Lee Larson Joyner and Lois Carr Joyner, son Blake, parents Victoria Krienke Joyner and Albert A Joyner, siblings Albert and Gwen Christensen, son-in-law John Mestad and stepdaughter Nancy Fink. Survived by children Cynthia (Ed) Joyner Updyke, Claudia Joyner, Heather Mestad and Dwight (Jay Baumgartner) Joyner; grandchildren Brannon, Ryan (Jordan), Ray, Olivia, Veronica, Gabriel and Julie; great-grandchildren Jack and Reece; Larson stepchildren Sharon Punch, Mary Jo (Jeffrey Grams) Jauert, Bill Larson and Rich Larson and step-grandchildren Wes, Lindsay, Jamie, Megan, Lauren, Shelby, Kyle, Jake and 8 great-grandchildren; Carr stepchildren Carolyn (Bill) Latady, Viginia “Gigi” (Kellie Jones) Carr, Richard Carr and Jim (Katie Markell) Carr and stepgrandchildren Morgan Carr-Markell and Veronica (Leah) and Karlie Jones-Carr; and many other family and friends. Comforted to the end by the beloved cat he shared with Lois, Floria Tosca or "Florrie."

He was a graduate and proud supporter of Hamline University and was dedicated to his work at Joyner’s Die Casting & Plating, Entrada Braille and the Brooklyn Park Sentinel newspaper. Committed to community service, he was a past board member of the Brooklyn Park Lions Club, Twin Cities Association of Metal Finishers, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, North Hennepin Chamber of Commerce, New Hope YMCA and Anoka United Methodist Church. He was a proud supporter of the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus and GALA Choruses.

A summer 2024 Memorial Service will be held at Spirit of Hope United Methodist Church, 7600 Harold Ave., Golden Valley, MN. Special thanks to the angels at N. C. Little Hospice Edina. Memorials to the Brooklyn Park Lions Drum and Dance Corps of which Lyn was a founder.
