Obituary of Muriel H. Murphy

Muriel H. Murphy, 89, of Duluth, passed away June 13th, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by family. She was born August 6th, 1926 in Marshall, MN to James and Emma Horak. She graduated from high school in Worthington, MN and was a loving mother and homemaker. She and John Murphy were married December 27, 1950 in Worthington. Muriel worked at Cathedral (now Marshall) High School in Duluth, MN for several years in the counseling office. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, husband John Murphy, and grandson Jacob Murphy. Muriel is survived by her sons Charles (Barb), Brian (Shelley), and Gerald; daughter Diane (Fred) Winship, grandchildren Kaitlyn, Courtney, Jason (Dina), and Jonathan (Amanda) Murphy; Emma and Josiah (Cassandra) Winship; great-grandchildren Caleigh and Kelsi Murphy, Taieton Peterson, and Aspeyn Winship; great-granddog Clyde Murphy, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all. PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Services entrusted to Cremation Society of MN. Her family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital for their excellent care and compassion for Muriel and her family.
