Obituary of Donald Campbell Seaberg
Don was born in St. Paul, MN on December 22, 1931. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1950. He loved sports and was a member of the football and track teams and participated in the High School YMCA. After graduation, he attended University of Wisconsin-Stout, where he met his college sweetheart, Jeanette Oetting.
Don was drafted into the Army in 1951 and served in the 7th Division Infantry, Private 2nd Class, for 17 months during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954, having received several medals.
He and Jeanette were married in 1955 and raised three sons, John, Joel, and Jerry. He took a job with SPS Company and had a successful 30-year career in sales and management there. Sadly, Jeanette passed away in 1985.
Don met Geri (Geraldine) in 1990, when she was working at Center Drug. He was smitten from the get-go, finding any reason to shop there. That led to leaving little notes under her windshield wiper. His wooing worked, and they married in 1992. He embraced Geri’s two children, Lisa and Todd. They decided to move up to his lake home in Pequot Lakes, where they spent the next 30 years actively immersed in the community. Don belonged to the Lions, First Responders, Lakes Area Food Shelf, American Legion 697, and served on several boards, including Grace United Methodist Church and Garden Club. He was a 50-year member of the Zuhrah Temple and a lifetime member of the Shrine Patrol.
Don was a dedicated players’ assistant and ranger at Grandview Lodge’s Preserve Golf Course from the day it opened in 1996 until they returned to Hopkins in 2019.
Don loved life, serving his community, golfing, and deer hunting with his sons. Above all, he was a proud veteran, always wearing a flag pin on his shirt collars. He chose to pass from this life on November 11, 2023 – Veterans Day.
