Obituary of Robert Edward Raab

Robert Edward Raab, Bob, passed away on November 16, 2023, at the age of 94 in Shoreview, MN. Born on August 2, 1929, in Great Falls, MT, Bob lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and cherished relationships. Bob was a kind and caring man, known for his fun-loving nature and quick wit. He had a warm personality that drew others to him, and he valued deep and lasting friendships.

Bob is survived by his dear and devoted wife, Bobi, his children, Mary Jo (Mike Banken), Theresa (Scott Rangitsch), Bill Raab (Deb), and Barb (Dave Larson). He is also survived by Bobi’s children, Paul (Jennifer), Dan, and Bob (Sue) Kammann, along with 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan, his mother, Marion, his father, Ralph, his son in law, Dan Chippendale and his brothers, Jim and Ralph.

His bond with his dear friend Archie Swan was particularly cherished. Bob had a mischievous side and loved to tease, but his kindness always shone through. In his earlier years, Bob served in the Navy during the Korean War, where he displayed dedication and bravery. After his military service, he pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota. Bob had a successful career as an accountant and management consultant. He worked for Progress Foundries for several years, where he made several lasting friendships. Outside of work, Bob had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He enjoyed relaxing and smoking his pipe, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and traveling in his RV. He was a golfer and even got a hole-in-one. He especially loved spending winters in Texas, playing cribbage and pegs & jokers, and watching sports.

A service to honor Bob's life will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Shoreview, MN on November 30th.  Visitation is at 10:00AM with service at 11:00AM and a luncheon immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army, an organization that held great importance to him and for which he volunteered.  The family also extends their gratitude to St. Croix Hospice.  Bob Raab will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever be remembered and cherished. May he rest in peace.
