Obituary of Albert Robert Thaemert

         

          Albert Robert Thaemert, affectionately known as “Mert” was born on November 29,1929, In Carver County Minnesota to Elford and Margaret Thaemert.  He was the middle son of three boys, with Stan and Elford (Bud) as his dear brothers, who have sadly passed on before him.  Albert passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023, at the age of 93.

          Al spent his early education at Guardian Angeles Catholic School in Chaska later graduating from Central High School in Minneapolis after which he embarked on a journey that would leave an indelible mark on the lives of those around him.  Shortly after graduation, he joined Donaldson’s Department Store as a teamster, eventually becoming the go-to person for furniture repair and finishing in the warehouse.  He dedicated himself to this work and retired from it in later years, leaving behind a legacy of craftmanship and dedication.

Albert was not only a skilled worker but also a devoted and loving husband.  He shared 31 beautiful years of his life with Dorothy Christensen, his beloved wife.  Together, they formed a blended family, blessed with 4 children, 9 grandchildren and an astounding 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished dearly.

          Mert was a man who appreciated the beauty of the great outdoors, finding solace and joy in fishing and hunting.  He possessed a remarkable green thumb, cultivating stunning flowers and maintaining a bountiful garden that provided fresh vegetables for the family table.  His passion for sports knew no bounds, and he was known for never missing a game, following his favorite teams with unwavering enthusiasm. 

          Throughout his life, Mert cultivated enduring friendships, and he reveled in the camaraderie of his friends, who share his interests and values.  Though they have passed on before him. The memories he created will be a source of comfort and inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Albert Robert Thaemert (Mert) touched the lives of many with his warmth, generosity and unwavering love for his family and friends.  He will be deeply missed but the memories he created will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

          He is survived by his four children: Terry Rebentisch, Robert Thaemert, Jeff Christensen and Karen Cooper.
