Obituary of Bonita Lorraine Lescarbeau

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bonita Lorraine Lescarbeau (nee Whitcomb). Bonnie, age 76, died peacefully at home on November 6th after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Despite the devastation of this disease, Bonnie’s smile and laughter warmed our hearts right up to the end.

Bonnie was born to John and Lorraine Whitcomb, the eldest daughter of nine children. After graduating from high school in Stillwater, Minnesota, she married John Weyer and had two children. They lived on a hobby farm in Clear Lake, Wisconsin. Bonnie was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family ahead of herself. Being a mom was the greatest joy of Bonnie’s life and was only made better with the addition of eight grandchildren. Her marriage to John ended in divorce. In later years, Bonnie worked for 3M in Oakdale, Minnesota until retiring in 2006.

Bonnie began her new adventurous life with future husband Greg Lescarbeau in 1996. They enjoyed life as snowbirds spending winters in Arizona and summers on Lake Wapogasset in Amery, Wisconsin. Bonnie and Greg traveled the country extensively on motorcycle to places where most people only dream of going. One of Bonnie’s fondest memories was cruising the Florida Keys in the middle of winter with the love of her life. The bond they shared was nothing short of remarkable. Greg cared for Bonnie in their home until her death while constantly reminding her how much she was loved and meant to him. Their shared love of music helped carry them through the cruelty of suffering from Alzheimer’s. Bonnie’s face would light up when hearing her favorite songs and she never forgot the chorus to “Sweet Caroline.”

Bonnie will be especially remembered for her easygoing personality, perpetual smile, laughter, and love of family.

She is preceded in death by parents John and Lorraine Whitcomb, and brothers Brian and Dennis Whitcomb. She is survived by her loving husband Greg, son Chris (Teresa), daughter Michelle (Brad), eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, siblings Marland (Barb) Whitcomb, Albert (Donna) Whitcomb, Debbie (Tom) Ganas, John (Karen) Whitcomb, Sandy (Mark) Schoess, Brad Whitcomb and sister-in-law Jackie Whitcomb.

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Lakeview Hospice team for the wonderful care and support they showed to our family.

A celebration of life will be held at the Butler Harmon American Legion Post 80, 1260 Wall Street, New Richmond Wi on Saturday, Feb 3rd from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.
