Obituary of Rodney Dean Oppegard

Rodney Dean Oppegard passed away on Friday June 17, 2016. He was 62 years old. Rod was the first of four children, born April 28, 1954 in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota, to parents Jim and Marge Oppegard. Right after Rod was born, the family moved to New Mexico because his father Jim was in the Air Force. Later, the family moved to California where Rod spent most of his growing-up years. The Oppegard's returned to Minnesota when Rod was a sophomore, and attended Anoka High School. Rod played football, basketball, & baseball throughout his school years. He graduated from St. Cloud State University. He worked in professional construction and maintenance most of his life. A true Minnesota-man, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. He is survived by his two daughters Krista (Darren) & Katie, his father Jim, sister Linda (Bill), brother Gordy (Kim), sister Sherry (Don), and many friends. Rod recently lost his mother Marge to brain cancer in August 2015. His memorial service will be held on Saturday June 25th at 2pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota; 7835 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Park, MN, with the visitation for family and friends starting at 1pm.
