Obituary of Paul C. Truran

Rev. Paul C. Truran, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2016. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Laura Truran, and his brother, David Truran. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of 65 years, and their children Kathleen (John) Bernhardson, Deborah (William) Madsen, Mark (Anita) Modak-Truran, and Stephen (Mary) Truran. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great-grand-children, his sister, Barbara Moran, and his sister-in-law, Donna Truran. Paul was born on September 11, 1930, in Detroit, MI, to Charles and Laura (Young) Truran and was the oldest of three children. He married Beverly J. Curtiss on August 30, 1951. Paul received a B.A. from North Central College (Naperville, IL) and a Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. He was ordained in the Evangelical United Brethren Church (now United Methodist) in 1956. During his career as a pastor, Paul served three congregations: Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church (Benton Harbor, MI); Immanuel Evangelical United Brethren (Harper Woods, MI); and First Presbyterian Church of South St. Paul, MN (1966-1983). In 1965, Paul created Logos Productions as an extension of his ministry, which developed and sold products to support all aspects of congregational life. Paul also served as an active member on the Mission and Social Committee at the Presbytery of the Twin Cities and as a Trustee of the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. He shared his great love of learning through his renowned preaching and over 40 years of teaching confirmation classes, adult education, and Men's Bible Study. The funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church of South St. Paul on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. The visitation precedes the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Truran Memorial Mission Fund at First Presbyterian Church of South St. Paul.
