Obituary of Brenda Kay Ruzic
Brenda Kay Ruzic 63, of Oliver WI, passed away at Essentia Health Duluth peacefully on October 5th surrounded by her family. She was born in Bismark North Dakota on October 19, 1959 to John and Teressa Branley. She met the love of her life Jerry while being a server at Bucko’s Bar in Gary New Duluth. They were married on January 13th, 1984. Brenda, known as “babes” and Jerry known as “buds” were married for 30 years before his passing in 2013. In May of 1988 she welcomed their only child Jeremy who was the light of her life.
For nearly 40 years Brenda was a devoted employee at Minnesota Power beginning her career in the mail room. She advanced her way on to several positions, most recently having the role of assistant engineer. She thoroughly enjoyed her job and the people she worked with. Brenda gained many long-lasting friendships while employed there.
In her younger years Brenda, along with her husband started the tradition of camping. Each summer they would spend their time at the camper and she continued to camp following his passing. She gained a tremendous amount of friends enjoying her “coffee talk” on the deck in the mornings, participating in meat raffles and always being a helping hand whenever asked. When camping season concluded she enjoyed traveling to New Richmond visiting family, having her son/daughter in law take her out for the occasional afternoon beer, and attending sporting events for her grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Teressa, siblings Pam, Deb, Jody, John and her husband Jerry.
Brenda is survived by her son Jeremy (Lynn) Ruzic, grandson Ryker, nephew Dan (Brenda) Gamache, her beloved dog Winnie along with many other family members she loved dearly.
A special thanks to Essentia health ICU staff for the great care that was provided to her. We would also like to thank all the friends and family that gave us support during this time.
