Obituary of JoAnn Carisch Strand

   JoAnn Carisch Strand passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 27, 2023 at Emerald Crest in Victoria, MN. 

JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, William and Pearl Carisch, brothers Jack and James Carisch, and former husband Robert Pemble. She is survived by her children; Steve Pemble(Marilyn), Bill Pemble (Valerie-deceased). Lisa Dibble (Jerry), Serene Bachman (Larry-deceased), Yolanda Strand (Unni), Rob Strand (Michele). Brother, Robert Carisch. Eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and former husband Robert Strand Sr.

JoAnn was born on May 20, 1937 in Bemidji, MN where she lived most her life. JoAnn enjoyed spending time with lifelong friends and family. Her love language was food. She was known for her famous ribs, meatballs, fudge and a multitude of cakes and bars. Never one to cut corners, she was generous with her time and energy. JoAnn spent most of her life trying to hide chocolate from her children. Alas, her efforts were futile. Never one to pass up a good rummage sale, she would go on the hunt for old dishes, linens, and gifts for her grandchildren. 

JoAnn was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji. She enjoyed the early service and the fellowship of other parishioners. A special thank you to Emerald Crest of Victoria, MN and Grace Hospice of Minneapolis for your care and compassion. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji, MN on Friday November 3rd, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
