Obituary of Geraldine Dewey

Geraldine (Jerry) Mary Dewey, age 88 of Plymouth, MN passed away on October 20, 2023.

Jerry was born to Ray and Mary Betting on October 1, 1935. She grew up in Forman, ND with her sixsiblings in a home where hours were filled with gardening, cooking, canning, sewing, entertaining, playing games, making music both vocally and with band instruments. After graduation from Forman High School, she studied nursing at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN. Jerry married her high school sweetheart Jon Dewey in 1955. Together they raised six children in various communities; Fargo, ND, Minnetonka, MN, Overland Park, KS and Marshall, MN. Jerry’s heart was always toward being a wife, mother, good neighbor and all-around terrific homemaker. Jerry was funny, loved to laugh, was welcoming to all, resilient, she had a fighting spirit that allowed her to overcome obstacles throughout life. She loved spending time with family and was always willing to get on the floor and play with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her welcoming spirit, her kindness, and her willingness to embrace the hurting and lost. She will be missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her children; Greg Dewey, Patty Hodnefield (Paul), Sue Dando ( Jeremy), Doug Dewey(Lori), Jon Dewey(Lee Ann), Phillip Dewey. Her 13 grandchildren; Ryan (Stacie), Sarah, Mackenna, Tim, AJ (Abby), Patrick, Michellie, Tiffinni, Gunnar, Amelia, Dalton, Ben, David and three great-grandchildren; Brendan, Caitlin and Kyrah. Her sisters Barb, Eleanor and Pat and sistersin-law Jeanie and Faunce.
