Obituary of Hilbert G. Hoger

Hilbert G. "Bob" Hoger

Age 101. Born June 28, 1922; died October 12, 2023. 
Loving husband of Joan Nelson Hoger for 62 years. 
Preceded in death by wife, Joan, and son, Jay. 
Survived by daughter, Cindy (Jim) Winslow, 
son, John (Deb) Hoger and daughter, Lynn (Mike) Deml, 
11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. 
Bob was raised on a farm near Frankfort, IL. 
His first years of college were at Concordia in Chicago 
where he played football, basketball and baseball. 
After serving in WWII as a medic, he completed 
his B.S. degree at the U of M and enjoyed a 35-year 
career with the MN Dept. of Agriculture. 
Joan and Bob raised their 4 children in south Minneapolis, 
then moved near New Prague where they had previously 
established a 40-acre apple orchard, followed by a home in Lakeville. 
Bob was a kind, caring dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. 
He had a great love of nature and science and was happiest when 
tinkering in his workshop or spending time with family. 
With his twinkly eyes and big smile, Bob will be deeply missed 
by family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be at the Cremation Society of MN 
at 7110 France Ave So, Edina, on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 1-4 PM, 
with an opportunity for sharing memories at 2:30. 
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Audubon Society 
or the donor’s choice.
