Obituary of Steven Charles Cahill

In Loving Memory of Steve Cahill

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Charles Cahill, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Steve departed this world on October 11, 2023 after complications arising from a stroke, surrounded by his loving family.

Steve was a man whose presence lit up the lives of all those fortunate enough to know him. He had an unwavering passion for sports, finding immense joy in watching sporting events, whether in person or on TV. His dedication and love for the game led him to umpiring. He umpired men's softball for the USSSA for many years. In 2007, his exceptional contributions were rightfully honored when he was inducted into the USSSA Hall of Fame – a moment that filled him with immense pride and brought great joy to his family.

Family was at the core of Steve's being, and he treasured the time spent with his loved ones. He valued the bonds he shared with his son, Aaron, daughter-in-law Sara, and his two beloved grandchildren, Logan and Ellie. Steve's face would light up with happiness whenever he was in the company of Logan and Ellie, cherishing every moment spent with them.

In 2010, Steve experienced a profound loss with the passing of his beloved wife, Joanie. Together, they created beautiful memories, with some of their happiest moments captured in photographs taken during their travels in Mexico. These memories served as a testament to their enduring love and brought smiles to the faces of all who knew them.

Steve leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. He is survived by his son, Aaron (Sara) Cahill, his adored grandchildren Logan and Ellie, his brother Tom (Lori) Cahill, nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will deeply miss him.

Steve is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanie Cahill, and his parents, Leo and Florence Cahill. The impact he made on the lives of those around him will forever be remembered, and he will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 20, 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Brooklyn Park. Friends and family will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in his honor. A private interment will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
