Obituary of Sharon Marie Stude
Sharon Marie Stude, age 64, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Sharon was born in Mineral Point, WI on April 27, 1959, the daughter of Francis and Ramona (Meudt) Stude. She attended St. Mary’s and St. Paul’s parochial school and graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1977.
During high school Sharon’s love for sports began. She participated in girls’ volleyball, basketball and track – winning the 100 yard dash in the Wisconsin State High School Track Meet. Sharon continued her interest in sports at UW-Platteville graduating with a bachelor degree in Physical Education and later a master’s degree. Her teaching career took her to St. Coletta’s in Jefferson, WI where she became involved with Special Olympics.
Sharon worked for many years at WPS in Madison and made her home in Verona, WI. She was always a small town Wisconsin girl at heart. In 2018 Sharon moved closer to her sister, Carolyn, and family in Cottage Grove, MN. Sharon returned to the education field as a paraprofessional at Crestview Elementary and especially enjoyed working with the kindergarteners. Thank you to the wonderful Crestview staff for their kindness and support.
Sharon enjoyed spending time with family. Going to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four in Minneapolis last year with her nephew, Steven, was a true highlight. Special visits from her niece, Sara, grandniece, Hailey, and beloved golden doodle, Boomer, were always treasured. Thank you to them for sharing cherished times together. Sharon also enjoyed sightseeing and casino trips with her parents, working with her summer flowers, word search puzzles, walking everywhere and of course sports of all kinds.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Chuck Novotny, nephew Steven Novotny (Rachel), niece Sara (Chris) Kirchberg and grandniece, Hailey Kirchberg.
A family gathering will be held at a later date in Wisconsin. Memorials may be made to Can Do Canines in Sharon’s memory or to a charity of your choice.
