Obituary of Roberta L. Wilson

Roberta L. Wilson, of Bloomington, born July 3, 1943: our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, matriarch and friend, surrounded by her family, peacefully drew her last breath on June 26 and transcended her suffering. She was 72. Disease may have broken her body, but never her formidable spirit. It is not surprising to any of us that her illness had to take her, because she most certainly couldn't be bothered to slow down for cancer. Our hearts are broken but we soldier on in honor of her incredible spirit, her smile, her sparkling eyes and a heart that was big enough to embrace the entire world while making her family feel like the center of her universe. Preceded in death by her parents Mary Catherine (Kay) and Ken Meyer, brother Jack Meyer, she is survived by sisters Pat Witzmann and Angelina della Mattina. She leaves husband Melvin; children: Tamra (Johnnie) Hoeschen, Brett (Gina) Wilson, Missy (Dan) Tousignant. She will be forever missed by her nine amazing grandchildren who were her entire world: Hildie, Riley, Oliver, Kaden, Ryan, Lucie, Jack, Ruby and Ben. Lastly, we know she will be greatly missed by countless nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. We celebrate her infinite love, her compassion, her wit, creativity, humor, and her genuine concern for every person that crossed her path. She was legendary for her kindness towards all. The touch of her life surely changed yours forever. Happy 73rd birthday mom, and just know that we are out celebrating with dad and the grand clan just as you would have, laughing until we cry and using maybe inappropriate language that you would have found hilarious, in fact you would have been the instigator of it all. We love you. Please join our family in celebration of her extraordinary life. Visitation Wed. July 6, 6-8, Service Thurs. July 7 11:00 am, visitation at 10 a.m. Luncheon will follow service.
