Obituary of Beverly Janet Anderson

Preceded in death by husband Roger, infant grandson Brandon Johnston, brother Lowell Cordell and favorite cat Katy. 

Survived by children Sheila (Jay) Johnston (MT), Lisa (Chris) Anderson and Bruce Anderson, Grandchildren Cordell (Casey) Johnston (MT), Siri (Richard) Kiefer, Madeline Broom (OR), Wyatt Broom and Jacob Anderson, great-grand-daughter Signe Kiefer. Sister and brother, Ronda Cordell and Alvin (Marlee) Cordell (SD).

Bev was born in Belle Fourche, SD to Bob and Betty Cordell on 9/28/37 and grew up in Camp Crook. In 8th grade Bev won the County and State spelling bees and traveled to Minneapolis to participate in the National Spelling Bee. She loved the glamour of the ‘big city’ and moved after graduation from Belle Fourche High. She received a degree as a medical lab technician. In October 1958, she married Roger and they began a family immediately.  After years of homemaking and daycare, Bev began a nearly 30-year career at Zuhrah Shrine Temple waitressing in The Red Fez Grill and managing staff for Banquets and Catering. Bev was an accomplished gardener and fantastic in the kitchen, especially with Norwegian delicacies! Roger and Bev were very active in Sons of Norway Oslo Lodge #2. For several years Bev prepared a Yuleboard that was simply spectacular and her kransekaka were highly sought after. She was instrumental as Mothers Club President in raising funds for a Norway tour for the Jr Lodge in 1977. Bev was also the Chair for several Syttende Mai Minnesota Parades in Downtown Minneapolis, second in size only to the Aquatennial. Bev was a wonderful mother and grandmother and we were thrilled she was able to meet her first great-grandchild this June. She wanted to be remembered as someone that took care of her family, and she did!
