Obituary of Jack Joseph Mulek

Jack Joseph Mulek, 88, of Hermantown, formerly of Morgan Park, passed away on June 26, 2016 in Essentia Health with his family by his side. Jack was born in Ely, on March 28, 1928 to Jack and Frances (Knapp) Mulek. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning to Duluth, he spent the majority of his working career at the steel plant in Morgan Park. He was an avid gardener and Minnesota sports fan. Jack was a family man who dearly loved his family and always put them first. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother William. Jack is survived by his wife, Phyllis of 67 years; children, Patti (Jim) Blackman, Jack (Cindy), Sandy (Steve) Brand, Kathy (Dave) Gunderson, Steve (Jodi), Mike (Deanna), Rick (Theresa) and Andy; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service on Thursday, June 30, 2016 in Cremation Society of Minnesota 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth.
