Obituary of Gerald J. Arndt

Arndt, Rev. Gerald J. "Gerry" 86, of Plymouth, MN, died peacefully at home on June 27th 2016. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beth, sons Jon and Erich Arndt, and parents Henry & Matilda Arndt. Born in East Farmington, Wisconsin on September 1, 1929, Gerry cultivated a love and respect for the beauty of nature from the St. Croix river valley to the western highlands of New Guinea. Married on June 5, 1955, Gerry and Beth entered missionary service in New Guinea where they taught their children to appreciate the amazingly beautiful world God created. Gerry served as minister to Immanuel Lutheran Congregation in North Minneapolis for 23 years until his retirement from active ministry in 1994. Throughout his life, Gerry's ministry reflected his heart for connection with all people especially those in need of compassion, healing and grace. Gerry is survived by daughters Karina (Dane) Larson, Meribeth Arndt, Kristin Arndt, and son Peter (Christy) Arndt, daughter-in-law Andrea Hopkins (Arndt); grandchildren Carolyn, Jason, Katie Christopher, Sonya, Kirsten, Stephanie, Grant, Jordyn, Devon and Alexa. Also survived by brothers Henry "Earl", Paul (Audrey), sister Marianne, and many dear nieces, nephews, relatives, colleagues and friends. Celebration of Life Saturday July 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Peace Lutheran Church, 4512 France Ave. N., Robbinsdale, MN. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. Memorials preferred to Habitat for Humanity and Reconciling Works. Arrangements: Cremation Society of Minnesota
