John Monsos

Obituary of John Monsos

John "Jack" Monsos, 80, was taken into the loving protection of Our Lord on September 15, 2023, after a decade long battle with pulmonary fibrosis caused by Agent Orange.

Jack was born October 19, 1942, in Black River Falls, WI to Philip and Helen Monsos.  Following high school, Jack attended LaCrosse State College before joining the United States Marine Corp in 1962. He spent nearly a year in Vietnam, something he would never talk about. After being honorably discharged, Jack returned home to Black River Falls where he met the love of his life, Luan.  After their marriage, they lived in West Allis and Appleton before moving to Menomonie in 1969. Their only child, Erik, was born a short time later.

Jack had a love of sports. Among his favorites were football (Go Pack Go), basketball and golf. His golf team even won the city championship 16 consecutive years. It brought so much joy to his life watching his son play various sports as well. He was also an avid deer hunter and had a burning passion for Corvettes.

Jack spent 31 years working for the State of Wisconsin as a driver’s license examiner, retiring in 1997. A few years later, they followed their son to Annandale, MN where he lived until his death.

Jack leaves behind his loving wife Luan, his cherished son Erik, and his devoted daughter-in-law Robin. He is preceded in death by his parents-in-law, his parents, and his beloved sister Mary.

Jack will always be remembered as a caring husband, wonderful father, and adored friend. His belief in God remained firm. On the last day he will be called to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He would say to all “Go with God”.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5460 63rd Street NW, Maple Lake, MN officiated by Pastor Culynn Curtis on Thursday, October 5th at 11am, with visitation at 10am. A light lunch will follow.

All memorials will go to helping disabled veterans.
