Obituary of Robert Tolan

Robert “Bob” Tolan, 85, of Duluth, Minn., passed away on Sept. 18, 2023.

Bob was born in Duluth on May 24, 1938, to George and Pearl (Hubert) Tolan. He attended Morgan  Park High School and graduated in 1956. He married Frances “Gail” Tolan on June 29, 1963. He  served in the U.S. Air National Guard and worked as an Insulator for Local 49. He also served as  Vice President, President and Business Manager of Local 49. He was a leader for Cub Scouts and  Boy Scouts and had fun playing in his cribbage and horseshoe leagues. After retirement in 2000, he  enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, taking walks with his dog, traveling, camping, tinkering and collecting junk.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Gail, and sweet dog, Peanut. He is survived  by his brothers, James (Betty) Tolan, David (Ronda) Tolan, son Dan Tolan, daughter Lori (Derek)  Baldwin, and grandchildren, Tyler Tolan, Matthew Tolan, Jenna Tolan and Davis Baldwin.

A service will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 715 N. 57th Ave. W., Duluth, on Monday, Sept  25. Visitation is at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral. A reception will follow the service.

Memorials may be given to The Alzheimer’s Association or Animal Humane Society.
