Obituary of Megan Morna Schaefbauer
Schaefbauer, Megan Morna age 48 of Minneapolis, died Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at home in hospice. She died as she lived, with dignity and grace. Her husband was by her side at death. Megan battled breast cancer for five years, never letting her cancer define her. Megan was born in Long Island, NY. At the age of six, her family moved to Denver, Colorado where she was raised. She began college at the University of Colorado in Boulder. After her parents and family moved to Minneapolis, she shortly followed. She completed her undergraduate degrees from the University of Minnesota in English and Psychology. She spent 18 years at Business Wire working as a senior account executive until she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in January of 2012. While at Business Wire, she was a member of NIRI (National Investor Relations Institute). She served as the President of the Twin Cities Chapter. Her greatest joy was her daughter, Lizzy, who she adored. Megan was most proud of her volunteer work at her daughter's school, Annunciation School. Megan was a voracious reader and loved movies. She loved spending time at the family cabin Up North on Pelican Lake in Orr, MN. She loved her pet dog, Katie and cat, Alice. She is survived by her loving husband Michael Schaefbauer, daughter Elizabeth Schaefbauer, her mother Peggy Reilly, sister Nora (David) Palmer, brothers Timothy (Celeste) Reilly, Daniel (Karen) Reilly and Cavan Reilly. She was preceded in death by her father, Timothy Reilly. Funeral service Thursday, July 7th 11:00 AM at Annunciation Catholic Church, 509 W 54th St, Minneapolis, MN 55419. Visitation at 10:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
