Obituary of Carl Metoxen

 

Carl Metoxen, 89, (formally of Maple Grove and Fridley MN) went home to be with the Lord on September 07,2023 after saying heartfelt goodbyes to his loved ones.  Carl was born in Menasha WI and raised just outside Green Bay in Oneida WI.  He attended high school in Green Bay before joining the US Navy in 1953 where he proudly served on the USS Intrepid.  After his service ended, he attended North Central College in Minneapolis where he met the love of his life, his future wife Doris.  They married in 1958 and later welcomed two sons, Todd and Terry.  Carl was a 30+ year employee of Centennial Schools in Circle Pines MN where he taught American History.  He was very popular among both staff and students known for his immense faith, knowledge, humor and push ups if you misbehaved.  Carl enjoyed reading, traveling, classic country music, hunting/fishing, watching sports (Packers, college basketball, Twins, golf).  He most enjoyed the time with his family and especially gathering on Sunday's for a big lunch after church.

Celebration of life service is scheduled for Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd, Apple Valley MN 55124.  Visitation begins at 10:00am, service at 11:00am.

Carl is survived by his two sons Todd (Shannon Aubart), Terry and a sister, Carol.  Also, many many nieces and nephews. He also has two grandchildren whom he treasured.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Doris, his parents Edison and Evelyn (Baird) Metoxen and many brothers and sisters.

He will be interred as a hero at a later time at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
