Khon Moc Luu

On Sunday, September 10, 2023, Khon Moc Luu, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep around 6:30 PM in Saint Paul, MN at the age of 78 after a hard fought battle with lung cancer.

Khon was born on May 16, 1947 to Buu & Thi G (Thai) Luu in Long Xuyen, Vietnam.  He later married his wife Loc Luong in 1973.  Two years later, they welcomed their first born child Tam in 1975.  Their second son, Tri, arrived in 1977, followed by a third son, Thanh in 1978.

He served in the military and fought alongside the US during the Vietnam War.  After the fall of Saigon, he fled with his family, destination unknown until finally landing in the United States.  In 1980, the pair welcomed their fourth son, Tai.

Khon worked religiously, sometimes 2-3 jobs a day, to support his family.  He worked his way through trade school to become a machinist and landed a job at Marshall Manufacturing, where he worked until he retired after the 2008 recession.

Khon enjoyed vacationing with his family, where he was known to always carry a camera with him everywhere.  Taking pictures of his family was his passion.  His love for capturing family moments became an illustrious amateur film career with the invention of the camcorder!  After that, there weren't many important events that weren't properly documented.  Khon also had a love for gardening.  He had built a raised garden before it became a fad growing fresh herbs and vegetables every year.  Later in life, he loved spending time with all of his grandchildren.

Survived by his wife, Loc Luong and his sons Tam (Allie), Gino Tri (Ngoc), Thanh (Dereck) and Tai.  Grandkids: Liam (20), Alivia (14), Alayna (14), Logan (11), Eleanor (9), Linh (9), Bao (8), Wynnie (6), and Hazel (3).

Buddhist service for family members (Lễ phát tang) will be held at 9AM on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55409.  Visitation and Reception (Lễ thăm viếng) will be held immediately afterwards between 10AM - 1 PM and followed by Prayer Ceremony (Lễ Di Quan) and Cremation service (Hỏa táng).
