Obituary of Janet Louise Kowitz

Janet Louise Kowitz 

Be still and know that I am with you. Psalm 46:10 

The world lost a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Janet Louise Kowitz, on September 7, 2023. Janet battled metastatic breast cancer long after anticipated. Janet died in her home surrounded by her husband David and daughters Adrienne and Maisie.  

It would be wrong to say that Janet lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. She was determined to see her grandchildren play in their sports and school activities. There was no quit in Janet. Just because she is no longer here, it does not mean she lost her fight.  

Janet was born to Harold and Helen Johnson on August 8, 1951, and grew up in White Bear Lake, MN. Janet is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, David, as well as her daughters Adrienne (Doug) Schmidt and Maisie (Matt) Vellieux; and 4 grandchildren, Brady, Kayden, Anna, and Philipa. 

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 11 am. Arlington Hills Lutheran Church, 1115 Greenbrier St, St. Paul, MN. Visitation 1 hour prior. All are welcome to stay for a Celebration of Life luncheon in the Fellowship Hall of Arlington Hills immediately following the service.   

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Janet’s honor to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.
