Obituary of Mark Ellsworth Oberg

Mark Ellsworth Oberg went home to Jesus peacefully in his sleep on August 31, 2023 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s Disease. In the end, Mark was victorious.  His disease failed to rob him of his joy, his hope and his strength in the Lord.  

Those closest to Mark knew him as a man of faith: patient, forgiving, and possessing a deep love for the Lord, a well that he would draw from daily.  Mark took special joy in his eight grandchildren, swapping stories and laughing amid their laughter.  Mark also loved his beautiful daughter Bridey and his son Matthew with a proud Papa’s heart.

Mark’s greatest earthly love was for his wife and best friend Delight, married 52 years ago on July 23, 1971.  Whether he was buying her flowers, completing her to-do list, or simply watching a movie with her in the living room, Mark’s love for Delight was on full display.  In his final days, Delight asked Mark what he dreamt of while he slept, and with a small voice, he responded, “You.”

A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, September 24th at 2 pm, First Baptist Church at 401 Bridge Street North, Cannon Falls MN.
