Obituary of Lillian Esther Seim

Lillian Esther (nee Gulbrandsen) Seim passed away August 1, 2023 at her home in Victoria, Minnesota. 

Lil was born in Ogdensburg, New York, on July 13, 1957 to Richard and Phyllis (nee Bean) Gulbrandsen. She grew up in Greenfield, Massachusetts and Naperville, Illinois, and graduated from Naperville High School in 1975. Lil played the saxophone in the Naperville High School Marching Band.

Lil graduated in 1979 from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she majored in physics, minored in religion, and also played in the band. At St. Olaf, Lil was chapter president of the Society of Physics Students and a member of the Women in Science Network.

After graduation, Lil worked at Physical Electronics in Minnesota and California and later at FSI and AmerisourceBergen, from where she retired in 2016. On October 26, 1996, she married Thomas Birkholz Seim at Westwood Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Lil loved cooking, fishing, traveling, crocheting, watching professional golf, and reading. Some of her travel highlights included childhood summers in Maine and Prince Edward Island; attending the University of Oslo International Summer School in 1977; and cruises to Alaska with Tom in the early 2000s.

Lil was preceded in death by her parents Phyllis and Richard.

She is survived by her husband Thomas Seim; sister Sonja (nee Gulbrandsen) Przbylski; stepchildren Jody (Chris) Timmins, Jennifer (Joseph) Gannon, and Andrew (Michelle) Lau-Seim; grandchildren Erin Timmins, Greta Timmins, William Timmins, Annabelle Gannon, Luke Gannon, Brandon Gannon, Ruby Gannon, Kala Lau-Seim and Mara Lau-Seim.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 16515 Luther Way, Eden Prairie, MN. Memorials preferred to St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN.
