Obituary of Loring Franklin Snook
Loring Franklin “Frank” Snook passed away at the age of 85 on 7/3/16 in Moose Lake, MN surrounded by his family. He and his wife, Jean, have lived in the Riverside, CA area since 1961.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Snook Thompson, father Loring Snook, his stepfather Harold Thompson and his infant son, Virgil Harold Snook. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Snook, his daughter, Lori Snook DeWitt (Douglas), his son, Brian Snook (Melissa), and grandsons Brian “B” Snook, Morgan DeWitt, Parker DeWitt, Brandon Snook and Brady Snook.
After his Air Force service during the Korean Conflict, Frank earned BA and MA de-grees at the University of Northern Iowa and was an educator for over 35 years as a teacher, counselor, and administrator. He was responsible for bringing Apple computers into the Alvord School District in the 80’s and had a life-long love of technology. He was a competitive off-road motorcycle and car racer for over 20 years. His hands were also at home on the steering wheel of successive motorhome adventures through 49 states and Canada with family and friends. In his retirement, he poured himself into renovating a rustic summer cabin on Sand Lake in MN where his favorite pastime was raising tomatoes and entertaining family and friends. He was a generous spirit who will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be in Minnesota at a later date.
