Obituary of Betty June Everett
Betty June (Pederson) (Overland) Everett, 91, of Duluth, passed from this life on Sunday, July 3, 2016, in Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.
She was born in Duluth, on Nov. 18, 1924, to Elmer and Ida Pederson.
She grew up in West Duluth and was a graduate of Denfeld High School. Music played an important part in her life. Betty performed on two WEBC radio shows as a young girl, Soldiers' Serenade and Toast of the Town during World War II, as well as being a lead singer in local dance bands. After raising her children, she returned to music, dancing and performing in the St. Mary's auxiliary group, the Marybelles. She and her second husband also performed locally together, the last group being called the Over 80's. Betty held a variety of other jobs during her life. Some people might remember her as the owner of the Mile High Cafe. She also worked with her son Mark at Hawley Music. Whatever job she had, or wherever she lived, people found her to be charming. Her friends remember her as fun loving and vivacious, with a good sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Overland, the love of her life. She had a second marriage late in life and that husband preceded her in death also.
Betty is survived by her four sons, Wayne (Mary), Scott, Mark (Cathy) and Greig (Valerie) Overland; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
At her request there will be no memorial service. If you would like to honor Betty in some way, a donation to her favorite charity, the Salvation Army, or to Solvay Hospice House would be a beautiful tribute. Cremation Society of Minnesota 218-624-5200
