Obituary of Martha J. Wicklund

Martha J. Wicklund nee Judge, age 83, of Golden Valley, MN, passed away July 4, 2016 after a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Martha was born September 9, 1932 in Ames Iowa to Frank and Florence Judge, preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Richard Wicklund and siblings; Barbara, Francis, Joseph and Timothy. Martha is survived by her two daughters Barbara (Lawrence) Dean and Linda (Bengt) Astrom, five granddaughters, brothers Charles (Judy) Judge, Nicholas (Karen) Judge and sister in law Eleanor Judge. Martha had two careers in addition to parenthood, Medical Technology and Library Science. Prior to the debilitating effects of Alzheimer’s Martha was an active member of St. Joseph Parish Community of New Hope and Storybook Theater. Martha was an avid reader, seamstress, supporter of women’s rights and very proud of her Irish heritage. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Joseph Parish Center 8701 N 36th Avenue, New Hope, MN. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org. There will be a private interment at Gethsemane Cemetery.
