Marlyn J. Hiland, age 73 of Stacy, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, with her family at her side.

Marlyn was born July 1, 1950, to parents Roy and June (Frovarp) Kiefat of Grand Forks, North Dakota. She grew up on a farm near Almelund, MN and attended school in Taylors Falls. On March 8, 1969, at the age of 18, she married the love of her life, John Hiland. Together they eventually settled in Stacy where they raised their three sons: John, Kevin, and Brian. While her boys were young Marlyn worked at Honeywell, Barzen Bird Seed, and Shafer Electronics. In 1987 she started work at Minco where she spent the next 25 years making many cherished memories and life-long friendships before retiring in 2012. Marlyn enjoyed baking, camping, traveling, playing bingo, country music, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be forever remembered for her feisty spirit and endless generosity which touched the lives of so many.

Marlyn was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John Hiland; parents Roy and June Kiefat; sister Linda (Kiefat) Tucker; brothers Lary and Dale Kiefat; and her beloved dog Molly.

Marlyn is survived by her children John (Darcy) Hiland, Kevin (Alison) Hiland, and Brian (Tina) Hiland; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sister Darlene (Daniel) Zabel; brother-in-law Gary Tucker, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Marlyn will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who knew her. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
