Obituary of Victoria Mildred Healy

HEALY (Tjosaas), Victoria Mildred, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, surrounded by her family at Park River Estates Care Center, Coon Rapids. Victoria was born on August 16th, 1921 to Hans & Tillie (Hanson) Tjosaas in Benson, Minnesota, Swift County. She was raised on the family farm “Six Mile Grove”. Victoria married Ellwyn Healy on September 2, 1944 in Benson, Minnesota. She taught Vacation Bible School in New Folden and other towns in Minnesota and Kentucky with her friend, Dory (Olson) Healy. They attended and graduated from Trinity College. Ellwyn and Victoria left for Ethiopia to be missionaries under the Sudan Interior Mission in February, 1947 with their two children, James and Joy. They returned to the United States 5 years after with 3 more children, John, Judith and Jerry. Jonathan was born during this one year furlough and they returned to Africa for 5 ½ years. The family increased by 3, Julene, Joseph, and Judson. After four years in the U.S.A., they returned to Africa again for 4 more years, leaving Jim, Joy and John with relatives. Judith left her parents, siblings, and new baby sister, Jewel, in Africa 2 years later to continue her school. They returned to the United States in 1966. Victoria worked at Sunshine Bible Academy, Miller, South Dakota for 2 years as a Cook. She returned to the Twin Cities and purchased her first house with Ellwyn, in Fridley. She worked for the next eleven years as a Cook and Day Care Provider. She was a tireless Child Evangelist and continued to preach and live her life for Christ. Victoria resided at Augustana Assisted Living with Ellwyn until his passing in 2010. She moved to Epiphany Assisted Living in Coon Rapids for one year, then to Park River Estates. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66+ years, Ellwyn; her parents; sister, Gladys Bloom; brothers, Homer, Wesley, and Lyle Tjosaas; step-brother, Roger Tjosaas; step-sister, Karen Minor; step-mother, Violet Tjosaas. She will be deeply missed by all ten children, James (Nancy), Joy (Dave) Lhotka, John (Vicki), Judith (Claude) Erickson, Jerry (Kathy), (Darlene Shea), Jonathan (Diane), Julene Joyce, Joseph (Cheryl), Judson (Gail), Jewel Wolf; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren, and counting; “special daughters”, Ginger Engel, Michelle Lind; she is also survived by siblings, Richard, Eunice Fredricks; step-brothers, David, Howard, Gary; step-sister, Jeannie Bernds; many nieces, nephews, relatives; good friends; and her loving care-givers at Park River Estates. Celebration of Life 2pm Saturday, July 9th at Word of Life Alliance Church, 10730 University Ave NW, Coon Rapids with visitation one hour before service. Reception following services.
